The winner of the Elite Ranking will be be rewarded not only with recognition but also with prizes, including free Elite entry for the following year and cash awards for the top three men and women.

Elite Athletes must list at least two races they will participate in at the beginning of the season. This information will be published so other racers can see what to expect at which race.

Points will be awarded only to teams in the World Series category, ranging from 15 points for 1st place to 1 point for 15th place.

The points are awarded on an individual basis to each team member. An Elite athlete racing with another athlete who is not part of the elite program can still collect points.

Points will be awarded for the World Series races in Rügen, Utö, Engadin, Gothenburg, Casco Bay, Åland, Orcas Island and Cannes.

The best 3 results of each athlete, plus the result of the Season Finale in Cannes, will count toward the final ranking of the year.

The Season Finale in Cannes awards double points.

2026 ÖTILLÖ Elite swimrun ranking

The best three results of each athlete in eligible races, plus the result of the Season Final in Cannes, will count toward the final ranking of the year. The Season Finale in Cannes awards double points.

If two athletes have the same number of points collected from their top three race results and the Finale in Cannes, the higher rank shall go to the athlete with the higher number of overall points taking into account all race results of the season.

The total prize money for the Elite Program will be EUR 41’400 and will be distributed as follows:

If two or more athletes have the same total number of points at the end of the season, they will share the ranking position (e.g., two athletes ranked 1st, no 2nd place will be awarded). The prize money allocated to the tied positions will be pooled and equally divided between the tied athletes.

Example: If two athletes are tied for 1st place, the combined amount of prize money for 1st and 2nd place will be divided equally between them. The next athlete will be ranked 3rd.

To clarify all possible inclarities that you might have regarding the Elite ranking, here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Athletes eligible to participate in the 2027 Elite Program are all World Series podium finishers (Top 3) in all categories during the 2026 season in one of the following races: ÖTILLÖ Utö, ÖTILLÖ Engadin, ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg, ÖTILLÖ Åland, ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship, ÖTILLÖ Rügen, ÖTILLÖ Cannes.

Furthermore, all winners (1st place only)  across all World Series categories (Women, Men, Mixed, Solo Women & Solo Men) at the following North American races: ÖTILLÖ Casco Bay  & ÖTILLÖ Orcas Island.

Athletes can apply for a Wild Card to access the Elite program based on their merits in Swimrun or other comparable endurance sports and ÖTILLÖ will grant a limited number of Wild Cards. The number will depend on the total number of registrations for the Elite program. The Wild Card fee will be EUR 950. Please send your Wild Card request to [email protected] and [email protected] by December 10th.

Qualified athletes will get an invitation to join the Elite program. To participate in the Program, athletes must pay a non-refundable Elite Program Fee of EUR 500.

The registration period opens on December 1st and closes on January 15th. By registering, athletes agree that ÖTILLÖ may publicly announce their participation in the Program.

By paying this one-time fee of EUR 500, an elite athlete can participate in all ÖTILLÖ World Series races worldwide without paying any additional registration fees.

Participation in the Elite Program and therefore the Elite Ranking does not influence the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Ranking for the qualification for the World Championship.
