Who will win at ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg?

ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg 2026 brings together 754 athletes from 30 nations across all distances and formats — making it one of the largest and most international editions of the race in its history. From first-timers on the Experience course to returning World Champions on the World Series distance, the Gothenburg Archipelago will host the full spectrum of the sport on 25 July.

At the top of the field, the World Series distance start list reads like a who’s who of swimrun. With 216 athletes from 20 nations set to race the full 39.7 km — including 6.8 km of open water swimming through the iconic Gothenburg Archipelago — this year’s Elite field may be the deepest Gothenburg has ever seen.

Leading the charge in the men’s category is the New Caledonian-Australian duo of Hugo Tormento and Adriel Young — a partnership that needs no introduction. Between them, they have won ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg six times. They’ll face stiff competition from the German Thiesmeyer brothers Jonathan and Ben, French duo Tom Ralite & Thomas Guerry, and Florian Schäfer (FRA), now partnered with David Pesquet (FRA). And then there is last year’s winner Viktor Törneke, who teamed up with Per Reinhardt this year, it will be exciting to see who will end up on the podium.

The women’s field is equally strong: Reigning World Champion Hanna Skårbratt is back racing with Ulrika Eriksson (both SWE) — two of the most decorated Gothenburg winners: they won the women’s race together three times in a row between 2022 and 2024, can they add another one? They will be challenged by a list of strong women’s teams, among them Terese Østeraas (NOR) and Klara Kjellgren (SWE) who were very strong together in Engadin, as well as the the Finnish pair of Hanna Jokinen & Meri Viljanen and Fiona Larsen & Amanda Martin from the USA.

The mixed category brings back the team of former World Champion Alexander Berggren and Helen Wikmar (both SWE) who won on Orcas Island earlier this year, with Berggren defending his 2025 Gothenburg title. French World Champion Alexis Charrier teams up for the first time with Sweden’s reigning World Champion Anna Hellström, a very strong team for sure. France’s Lydie Waucquier — winner of the 2026 Engadin World Series — takes on the archipelago with Johan Skårbratt (SWE), who won ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg last year with his wife Hanna. Three very strong teams who all aim to take the top spot of the podium!

The rocky, very technical course with 29 runs and 28 swims is very challenging and rewards the most complete athletes. Follow the action on Instagram and Facebook as well as on otilloswimrun/live on race day.
