Registration opening

Registration for ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Orcas Island is now open. The event will take place on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, in the breathtaking Pacific Northwest (PNW) of Washington State. With refreshing inland lake swims, enchanting forest trail runs, challenging mountain climbs, and spectacular views at every turn, this event is set to become a fall classic.

Why Orcas Island?

When you arrive on Orcas Island, take a moment to soak in its lush, natural beauty. Known as the “gem of the San Juans,” this horseshoe-shaped island perfectly combines vibrant arts and culture, pristine lakes, and endless outdoor adventures. With most of its 57 square miles being rural and hilly, it offers a scenic drive for visitors, while providing a challenge for cyclists and trail runners. The winding roads pass through forests, past artist studios, fields with weathered apple barns, and the occasional prune-drying barn from the turn of the century. Moran State Park is a must-see destination, covering over 5,252 acres and offering several mountain lakes and more than 38 miles of hiking trails- making it a year-round haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Hike the rugged, old-growth trails to the summit of Mount Constitution for breathtaking views of the surrounding marine landscape. Along the way, keep an eye out for bald eagles, deer, rabbits, and more than 250 species of birds. Don’t miss the drive or bike ride to the observation tower at the top of Mount Constitution, the island’s highest point, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Salish Sea, dotted with islands, and the snow-capped peak of Mount Baker.

Getting to Orcas Island

To reach Orcas Island, fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). From there, rent a car for the 2-hour drive to the Washington State Ferry Terminal in Anacortes. There are several ways to get to Orcas Island and the other San Juan Islands, but the most popular option is to take one of the iconic Washington State Ferries from Anacortes. It’s highly recommended to make a reservation for your car on the ferry (walk-on passengers do not need a reservation). Be sure to book your ferry tickets in advance for both your trip to Orcas Island and your return to Anacortes. Visit TakeAFerry.com to view schedules and make reservations.
