Why Whistler?
Whistler is located in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, just two hours north of Vancouver. It is a legendary resort that attracts visitors from around the world for its exceptional mountain sports and down-to-earth mountain town feel. Two side-by-side mountains are connected by the world-record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, which gives access to Whistler Blackcomb’s renowned alpine terrain, drawing hikers, skiers, and mountain bikers in search of breathtaking landscapes.

At lower elevations, a coastal climate provides a lush contrast to the volcanic alpine environment. There are sparkling glacier-fed lakes, towering old-growth forests, waterfalls, beaches, parks, and golf courses that are all connected by a network of paved valley trails. The place is full of energy and life.

Getting to Whistler
To get to Whistler your best option is to fly to Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Remember, for all you non-Candaians, you’ll need a passport. For a handful of states in the US (Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington) there are EDLs (Enhanced Drivers Licenses). If you have this type of license you can use it for travel to and from Mexico and Canada from the US and do not need a passport. Please check to see if you have this enhanced license, otherwise you will need a passport. From the Vancouver Airport, it will take approximately 2-hours to drive to Whistler.

HOW TO ADD-ON RACE MORNING PACKET PICKUP
We will have a hydrations station stocked with one cooler of water and one cooler of electrolyte water. The electrolyte water has little to no calories. Additionally each station will have a bucket of gels. Please do not “stock up” on gels taking more than you need to use in that immediate moment. If you need to have more hydration and nutrition than we provide please plan ahead and carry it on you. We recommend at least carrying a soft silicone hydration flask you can fill with liquid at each station and carry with you. We do provide a collapsable silicone cup you carry on you and drink from at each station but it doesn’t allow for carrying hydration between stations. Some stations may have snacks and/or sandwiches as well.
TBD
In the unlikely event of bad weather (lightning, flooding, hurricane force winds, etc) we will delay 20-minutes at a time until the weather clears. If the weather does not clear we will assess the situation 20-minutes at a time (on-going) and decide what necessary steps need to be taken to still have the event, in some fashion, whether it’s a shortened distance, or just a run. We do NOT want to alter or cancel part of or all of the event but we will do what is necessary to ensure the safety of our athletes. Please know that whatever is decided in a bad weather situation it is with your best interest in mind.
We welcome all spectators, friends and families to participate in our events.
NOTE: You may not assist any teams unless if it is a medical emergency. Any other assistance will result in disqualification of the team.
During each race we make a big media production for social media and traditional media. You will see photographers, reporters and film teams along the course. If you have any personal media contacts that would like to have material from us please email to [email protected].
We will cover the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Whistler LIVE on otilloswimrun.com/live, please spread the information to all your friends and family.
