SWIMRUN FOR EVERYONE
SWIMRUN FOR EVERYONE
From the beginning Swimrun was a race format that sprung out of the original ÖTILLÖ race. This original race is today considered to be the Swimrun World Championship. It is 75 km long, over and between 24 islands in the Stockholm archipelago, of which 65 km is technical trail-running and 10 km is open-water swimming. To say the least, quite extreme for most people. Swimrun was during the early years a race format that was available for a few very fit and motivated persons.
The evolution of a sport
Over the years persons involved in Swimrun started to train with friends, who at the time were novices and the sport evolved. To being a format that you can do anywhere there is land and water and with anyone. All you need is a bit of curiosity to try something new and someone to show you the ins and outs.
Today, Swimrun is a way of training not necessarily to race but to feel good. To be out in nature, with friends and to discover new places in the real world and within yourself.
A race distance fo everyone
From being an extreme format you can now get the rush of wearing a race bib in several Swimrun distances, either as a team or as a solo racer. You can be young, you can be old, you can be fit and you can be less fit. You can choose if you want to go fast or if you want to enjoy the nature.
- The Experience distance – with a total of about 7,5 km of racing
- The Sprint distance – with about 15 km of racing
- The World Series distance . with 35 – 40 km of racing. This distance also serves as a qualifier to ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship in the team category.
Swimrun has become a sport for everyone.
