“In our busy lives it is easy to disconnect yourself from the beautiful planet we live on. ÖTILLÖ gives you that rare opportunity to experience nature in a truly unique way, exploring some of the most beautiful trails and oceans in the world!”

Who are you?

My name is Nick Charlier, I’m the Head of Communications for Vivobarefoot!

How did you get into Swimrun?

I’m very fortunate that Vivobarefoot is a sponsor to ÖTILLÖ. So my first introduction was 3 years ago at the World Championship when I attended my first Swimrun with the company.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into but gave the Final 15 Sprint a try and instantly fell in love with it. The experiences inspired me to go on to take part in many more!

What do you like most about Swimrun?

That’s a tough question. The community is amazing, everyone is so friendly. But my most favourite part is that opportunity to truly escape the world for a morning and enjoy some of the most beautiful trails and oceans on the planet, the buzz stays with you for a number of days after (as do the sore legs and shoulders!)

How does Swimrun make you a better person in your everyday life?

Although it’s challenging, particularly when you start taking part in longer distances, it is also hugely rewarding. The lessons you learn in those challenging situations tell you a lot about yourself whether that be in really cold water, running up a steep mountain or swimming through waves and jellyfish!

Those situations also are the best stories for after the race at the bar….

If you could choose anyone you want as a partner (nobody you raced with before) for an ÖTILLÖ race, who would it be?

Swimming isn’t my strong point so Michael Phelps or Ross Edgley springs to mind!

What is your favorite meal the night before a race?

I won’t pretend to be a nutrition expert, but pasta seems like a good option.
