ÖTILLÖ SWIMRUN GOTHENBURG 2025
Swimrun fest in the Gothenburg archipelago

Press Release
| Swedish duo Viktor Törneke and Alexander Berggren win at ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg |
| The Gothenburg Archipelago presented itself at its best for this year’s ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg. The weather conditions were calm and very sunny with warm air temperatures and a water temperature of around 23 degrees, warm enough that it was not mandatory for racers to wear a wetsuit. The race course was very challenging: the athletes had to complete a total race distance of 39 km with 31 km of technical trail running and 7.1 km of open water swimming. 29 running sections and 28 swim sections meant a lot of transitions for the racers. The course starts and ends on the island of Styrsö and covers the surrounding islands of Asperö, Brännö and all the way down to Vrängö. Close to 700 athletes from 33 nations participated in the three distances World Series, Sprint and Experience. In the men’s category, the Swedish team of Alexander Berggren and Viktor Törneke, who were the favorites for the day, took an early lead which they only extended over the duration of the race, winning in an overall time of 4 hours and 52 minutes. It was Viktor Törneke’s first-ever win in an ÖTILLÖ Race after many podium finishes. The German duo Ben and Jonathan Thiesmeyer finished second, two minutes ahead of the Swedish team Magnus Key and Michael Brandt. Statement Alexander Berggren: “I had a really tough day today but it was mentally really really good afterwards.” Statement Viktor Törneke: “This race is always really tough. It is one of my favorite races from all of the circuit. In theory it’s my favorite race, in practice it’s always a hard day and today was no exception.” Asked about his first win, Viktor Törneke continued: “I’ve been doing this for five years, maybe doing 15 to 20 World Series and World Championship races and this was my first win. That was nice and important.” The mixed category was very competitive this year, with a lot of very strong teams on the start line. During the first half of the race, the two Swedish teams of Johan & Hanna Skårbratt, Daniel Adams-Ray & Linn Bengtsson as well as the ÖTILLÖ Engadin winners Florian Schäfer & Lydie Waucquier from France had a very tight battle. It was not until half of the race distance, that Johan & Hanna Skårbratt could break away from the other two teams, steadily increasing their lead to take the win with a very strong performance, finishing second overall, only two minutes behind the first men’s team. Statement Hanna Skårbratt: “We had a very good day, the conditions were great, we love this course, we have done the event many times before.” Statement Johan Skårbratt: “The competition was very tough, especially in the beginning of the race. The first two hours we were competing with two other teams, a Swedish team and a French team. But when we got into the technical part of the course, we managed to take minute by minute.” In the women’s category, reigning World Champion Sabina Rapelli from Switzerland started together with former World Champion Anna Hellström from Sweden. Both had already won at ÖTILLÖ Utö this year, but with different partners. Sabina Rapelli also won at ÖTILLÖ Engadin three weeks ago. So both of them are clearly in top form at the moment, which they confirmed during the race, winning with a lead of more than 20 minutes ahead of the Swedish teams of Anna Larsson & Eva Rongård and Lisa Ring & Klara Willcocks Kjellgren. Statement Sabina Rapelli: “It was a good day, first time here for me. I discovered this course and it was really beautiful and Anna was super strong on the technical runs and I followed her and I think we did a very good teamwork.” Anna Hellström continued: “I agree it’s a very challenging course, a lot of technical running, up and down, in and out from the water. I’ve done it before, but not this course. It was like two, three years ago, so I’m very happy with the win.” Another 50 athletes from 14 nations started in the World Series solo category, among them Adriel Young (AUS) and Ulrika Eriksson (SWE), both former multiple Swimrun World Champions. Adriel Young showed an outstanding performance finishing the race in four hours and 23 minutes, the best overall time of the day. Ulrika Eriksson won the female category ahead of Therese Østeraas from Norway and Mirelle Carlsson from Sweden who was only 30 seconds ahead of Marina Andersson from Sweden who showed a very strong finish. The next race of the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series 2025 will be held in Åland, Finland on July 9th. ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg World Series – Race Results MEN 1.
