Staffan Björklund will act as new ÖTILLÖ Race Director
We are very pleased to announce that Staffan Björklund, winner of the 2015 ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship, has been announced as ÖTILLÖ’s new Race Director.
Staffan’s experience in the Swimrun sport is extensive. He worked at the very first ÖTILLÖ event in 2006, won ÖTILLÖ Utö in 2013, and raced ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship, seven times.
“To me, this role is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have been connected to the sport of Swimrun from the very beginning, I love the sport and the community, I enjoy organizing races, and therefore, working for ÖTILLÖ is closing a circle for me. I am excited to take on this new role and to grow and further develop our sport,” Staffan states.
We are pleased to have found an equally competent replacement after Michael and Mats’ resignation. Staffan is very experienced in race organization. He currently performs the same role at the Nordic Islands Adventure Race (NIAR), which he will continue to maintain alongside ÖTILLÖ in 2023. Together with his business partner Micke Hanell, he will be responsible for providing safe races for all racers, staff, and volunteers at ÖTILLÖ Utö, ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg, the Final 15K, and most importantly ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship.
The ÖTILLÖ Team is looking forward to the upcoming season with Staffan and Micke.

Thanks for the update. Congratulations Staffan.
I notice that you only refer to ÖTILLÖ Utö, ÖTILLÖ Gothenburg, the Final 15K, and most importantly ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship as part of his remit.
What does this mean for race directorship at the other races?
Thanks
Hi David, Thank you for your message and sorry about our late reply! We have a second race director for the other races that works side-by-side with Staffan!
We hope to see you this season!
