ÖTILLÖ swimrun Cannes 2020

What a breath of fresh air!

After a 2020 with so much disappointment it was fantastic to end on a high note!

The weekend in Cannes turned out to be everything we hoped it would be. Sun, warm water, calm seas and lots of smiles.

It was a moment for us all to step into the swimrun bubble and to focus on swimrunning in the beautiful and surprising nature around Cannes. To feel the adrenaline rush of a start line and to feel the body alive. Actually, for our whole beings to feel alive.

We might have had less racers than usual but every person on-site made up for everyone who could not make it. The atmosphere was great, even behind the face masks.

This was our fourth race weekend of the year. One pre- Covid with Catalina and three during Covid. Everyone of them in a different country and everyone of them different from the other. What we have learned is that it is possible, now it is up to the governments to pass laws that allow us to host races in a responsible way so that sport can continue for the benefit of mental and physical health. Of course this has to be done respecting local laws and regulations and with respect for everyone suffering of the pandemic. Which we all are. But, we must push on and we must all keep inspiring others to get out in nature and lead an active lifestyle so that we can overcome together.

We thank every single person who was part of the Cannes swimrun weekend for the trust and all the positive energy.

We congratulate all for great racing and for the inspiration.

THE END OF THIS SEASON

This has been the hardest year in the ÖTILLÖ lifetime. What should have been a year of celebrating 15 years of Swimrun became a year of fighting for survival. Hopefully, we will not have to go through this again.

Without the energy from all of you it would not be possible. Thank you for the trust and thank you for the inspiration.

Keep swimrunning, get more people to try the sport and please stay safe.

We hope to see you in six months, on Malta when we kick off the 2021 season.

With respect,

Michael, Mats and the ÖTILLÖ team
