How do you summarize a weekend like the 2019 ÖTILLÖ Engadin weekend? One word: mind – blowing.
Why?
In total 29 nations came to participate. Almost 240 racers were registered in Saturday’s Sprint and Experience. With almost 50 in Sprint solo, the majority of these now want to find a partner to race with. In the World Series on Sunday we had 116 registered teams from 24 nations that raced hard.
The weather: Perfect on Saturday with a major rain storm that came through just as we finished the race briefing for the Sunday World Series race. On Sunday the conditions were near perfect until a small rain storm came through for an hour at around 2 pm. This made the conditions tougher for a short while.
The place: The Engadin valley is in itself a stunning place for Swimrun. Especially in July when it is too hot in the rest of Southern Europe. The trails, the lakes and the friendly people. The after-race meal on Sunday is great too.
New winners in the men and mixed categories in the World Series Race. Men: Team Simployer – Joakim Brunzell & Johan Carlsson – who are great ambassadors for our sport. In Mixed – Team Ark Swimrun – Diane Sadik & Knut Baadshaug – showing that they want to be part of the discussion on September 2nd chasing the World Championship title.
In the women’s category Désirée Andersson continues to show that she is a winning factor. When she starts a race she wins a race. This time together with Jenny Ramstedt. Great to see how they managed the pressure and did the right thing.
We now have the majority of the teams for ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship 2019. The start list is soon complete with the best line up ever.
A huge thank you to all the racers for creating such a warm and friendly atmosphere. We love to put on races for you!
Bring a friend to the next race and introduce them to our beautiful sport. We hope to see you soon again. ÖTILLÖ Engadin 2020 : July 4/5
Stay tuned for the rest of the season!
With respect,
The whole ÖTILLÖ team through Michael Lemmel
