Lars Finanger received the first of a barrage of emails from Jeffrey Cole on September 2, 2014. Lars had just finished his first ÖTILLÖ Swimrun WC race the day before, which Jeff had seen on Slowtwitch.com. Jeff was more than enthusiastic about bringing this sport to US soil.

In 2016, Swimrun North Carolina bought Braille signs for the museum at Hanging Rock State Park, where the race takes place. This year, Swimrun NC spent $7,300 on a mobile fire fighting system for one of the parks ATVs. They also connect the elementary schools with the racers.
