In the autumn of 2017 we were informed by one of the hotels on Sandhamn that they would convert to apartments.
This would leave us with a substantial loss of beds on Sandhamn. For ÖTILLÖ 2017 we had every commercial bed in Sandhamn (3 hotels), accommodation on Lökholmen, 4 rented big sail boats, 6 conference rooms, a tall ship and 30 teams at Djurönäset and still more than 60 staff on floors. With the weather conditions as in 2017, the new hotel situation and the need to have all our safety crew in beds for a good nights sleep we decided to make a major change.
Therefore, for the first time since 2006 we will all be staying at Djurönäset where everyone will have a bed in the same place, we will do one major race briefing and we will be very well looked after. It also enables us to have a total of 160 teams.
This means that we will have an organised bus transport from Stockholm City to Djurönäset for all the official Protocol on Sunday, September 2nd and then an early 35 – minute boat transport to Sandhamn before the start as usual on race day.
The return from Utö to Stockholm City on Tuesday, September 4th after the race will of course remain the same.
Welcome to a new era at ÖTILLÖ.
